An Evidence-Based Argument in Support of the Creationist Viewpoint
Evolution is broadly circulated in public schools as the only means to explain the world as we know it, but it is not the singular or most logical viewpoint. Evolution, also called macroevolution, is the idea that life formed from random chance and that diversity was accomplished through a series of mutations over billions of years. Creationists believe that a Designer formed the earth and each creature according to its kind, and that the worldwide flood is responsible for the sudden population in the fossil record. The evolution theory is taught as the most scientific, and therefore most believable, explanation for observable world, but that is simply not the case. The Creationist viewpoint has ample scientific evidence to support its claims of an intelligent design and complex diversity from the creation, which is logical and observable.
In addition, microevolution, which is also called the process of natural selection, is the manner in which genetic traits are passed through generations by the strongest organisms; the ones that last long enough to reproduce. Microevolution is an observable process that can be witnessed within a few generations, and the slight adaptations within species stay within the genetic code and the genes of the parents. The Creationist supports microevolution, but not macroevolution. Why is microevolution a more trustworthy theory than macroevolution? Because microevolution is based on operational science, which is observable, repeatable, and testable, while macroevolution is based on historical science: the process of making an assumption established by an observation (Sneed, 2019). Ray Comfort, a young earth Creationist and evangelist, is quoted with saying, “Darwinian evolution is unscientific, unobservable, unbelievable, but understandable in a world that hates God.” Evolutionists make some major assumptions about the formation of the universe and organic life.
The Theory of the Big Bang has no explanation for the stimulation and energy causing all life and galaxies to form. The First Law of Thermodynamics disagrees with idea that random chance suddenly created enough energy for life to evolve, for the law states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed, but only change forms (Brown, 29). Conversely, since the universe is constantly expanding, it must have a definite beginning. Both of these facts can be resolved if a Being outside of time and space, with the power and creativity necessary to form the universe, created all things and the energy to support all life. So, perhaps the “Big Bang” which Evolutionists claim created enough energy to support the universe, was actually an intelligent Being designing all things.
The account in Genesis accurately describes the universe and creatures inhabiting it, as well as other observable processes found throughout creation. A study performed by Pew Research Center for People & Press in 2009, found that 33% of scientist believe in God and that 18% believe in a higher power (Masci, 2009). They also found that 41% of scientists surveyed did not believe in either God or a higher power, with 7% abstaining from the survey altogether (Masci, 2009). Many of the most influential minds have believed God to be the intelligent Designer of the universe, and this Designer largely resembles the God of the Bible. The account found in Gensis, the first book in the Bible, is neither illogical or irrational, but accurately describes God creating the universe and everything in it, each according to its kind. Each species was created with a limited gene pool and was abruptly formed with complexity and diversity, and this creation was completed by God.
Life has never come from non-life. Evolution claims that everything came from nothing and random chance, but this has never been observed. The theory of spontaneous generation has long since been debunked, but Evolutionists seem to be revitalizing this idea to the extreme, claiming that everything came from nothing. We have never witnessed random chance ever forming a functioning organism of any kind, not even the simplest form of life: a single-celled organism. And, supposing a single-celled organism did appear from random chance, and slowly evolved into more complex life forms, there has never been discovered a two-, three-, four-, or five-celled organism (Brown, 10). Additionally, organisms containing between six and twenty cells are parasites, and require a more complex host organism, which means that these organisms would not be able to survive long enough for a host to evolve (Brown, 10).
Moreover, symbiotic relationships would not be able to form if either member in the relationship formed faster or slower than the other member. Since these individuals are completely dependent on the other, there would be no chance of survival for either. A few examples include, the fig tree and the fig gall wasp, the yucca plant and the yucca moth, and lichen; none of which could survive if their counterpart developed more slowly than themselves (Brown, 18). In addition, the sexes necessary for sexual reproduction would have to form independently from one another, yet still have the capacity to complement each other in the emotional, physical, and chemical levels of each organism (Brown, 19). The precision with which sexual reproduction takes place requires intentional design to create, because the development of sexes and sexual reproduction would have to occur around the same time and within a proximity for reproduction to occur. And this process has been repeated throughout generations in the biological kingdoms.
Evolutionists claim another never-before observed process, in which genes are added to the genetic code. There is no known organic process by which to add information into an organism’s genetic code. Moreover, it has only been observed that organisms through generations tend to lose genetic information through reproduction, rather than gain it. Evolutionists also claim that “helpful” mutations are responsible for the changes within species, but rarely is a mutation beneficial to an organism, and oftentimes mutations are fatal (Brown, 7).
Another major point of disagreement between the dueling viewpoints lies within the rock layers of earth. Many Evolutionists believe the earth to be incredibly old, giving organisms time to evolve slowly and for rock layers to be laid down gradually. However, many Creationists claim the earth is quite young, and that the rock layers were laid down swiftly when the worldwide flood, recorded in Genesis, covered the whole earth. This concept accounts for parallelism in the strata, indicating the layers were laid within a reasonably short period of time from each other, since surface erosion would have demolished the parallel strata (Brown, 11). In addition, we would not find the rapid burial of remains for fossilization that we observe, if the layers were laid gradually overtime. (Brown, 11). For example, there have been uncovered Polystrate fossils, fossils spanning across multiple layers of strata, such as Polystrate trees found all over the world (Brown, 11). Moreover, we can observe the rapid burial of these trees after a volcano eruption has taken place (Brown, 11). The layers of the earth and the rapid burial of fossils we can observe reinforces the creditability of the worldwide floor.
The concept of lower rock layers being older than strata towards the surface, led to the organization of the geological column and the issue of fossil gaps. Assuming that evolution did occur, then we should witness the gradual formation of more complex organisms through the ascending layers. But what we actually find is that at the deepest layers, presumably the oldest, life appears in diverse and complex organisms, which is contradictory to the assumptions made by Evolutionists (Brown, 12). Yet another issue lies in the missing links between evolved species, a mutated organism that was in a transitional state between one species and another, of which none have ever been found (Brown, 12). Furthermore, dinosaur tracks and human footprints have been discovered together in Turkmenistan and Arizona (Brown, 12). These archeological findings contradict the speculations made by Evolutionists and reinforce the Genesis account of creation and a worldwide flood.
These observable processes, and many others, support the conclusions made by Creationists. A Creator exists who formed the universe intentionally, who has the power and creativity to create the universe, the processes and the natural laws, which limit physical capabilities (Gitt, 2012). The creation was completed when world was formed in the beginning, with each creature being formed according to its kind. Common features is a manifestation of a common Designer, not a common ancestor. “Every song has a composer, every book has an author, every car has a maker, every painting has a painter, and every building has a builder,” says Ray Comfort, “So it isn’t irrational to take this simple logic a little further and say that nature must have had a Maker. It would be irrational to believe that it made itself.” Though not exhaustive, the observable evidence found in creation points to the intellect of an intentional Designer.

The Biblical Account in Gensis Chapter 1
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.
6 And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” 7 So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so. 8 God called the vault “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.
9 And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. 10 God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good.
11 Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so. 12 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. 13 And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day.
14 And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so. 16 God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, 18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.
20 And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.” 21 So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.” 23 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day.
24 And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so. 25 God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
27 So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
29 Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so.
31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.”
I've always been shocked that one of the most accepted answers in the scientific community to the question, "Where did life come from?" Is evolution-an idea that observable science actually works against to disprove.
