Grave Robber
A poem
They’ll only hurt you again You can never trust men. You're broken and bruised. Battered and abused. Worthless and used. Marked and refused. Your ally's absence has only proved They're shirked action and love removed. You're broken and bruised. Battered and abused. Worthless and used. Marked and refused. Fighting for yourself is now the only way. Protect yourself at any cost to make it through the fray. You're broken and bruised. Battered and abused. Worthless and used. Marked and refused. Those that you trusted never came through, Keep everyone away with walls built around you. You're broken and bruised. Battered and abused. Worthless and used. Marked and refused. Grab the hammer, grab the nails The sound pound, pound, pound prevails. You're broken and bruised. Battered and abused. Worthless and used. Marked and refused. The floor below me and the roof above, The walls are sealed with one final shove. You're broken and bruised. Battered and abused. Worthless and used. Marked and refused. And there in the darkness I lay without moving, The words of the voices pounding and disapproving. You're broken and bruised. Battered and abused. Worthless and used. And now accused. I thought I'd be safe in this place I had built, Six feet below in darkness and guilt. Then a new voice I hear in the mix, My still, stone-cold heart it pricks: "I can restore you and make you whole, Give you a new seal, stamped on your soul. Give me your burdens and lies you hold, I'll bring the new forth, from the old. If you want life, I am the way. Follow me now, without delay." And bursting forth, out of the grave, He calls my name, and leads me out of that cave. He's made me pure, clean, and new, More alive than I ever knew. He calls me daughter, worth fighting for; Love like the ocean crashing on shore. Just like the ocean, He'll never leave, His strength will always fight for me. I trust Him to hold me near. To Him, my heart I'll bear. Praise to Him my lips will sing, His faithfulness in me will ring.
