My Last First Day of School
I have officially started my senior year of high school! Which is crazy, exciting, and a little scary.
I wanted to share with you guys a few of my first poems, which I started writing when I was 11 1/4!
Here is one from my twelve-year-old self:
Remember Spring
Spring brings the new, It brings the early dew, It melts the ice, Which is quite nice. Spring blows away the snow, And everyone knows That snow belongs in winter. Winter is gone, And spring brings the fawn To come and go as it please, The Daffodils are bright, The Blue Bells ring for the light, The Crocuses bloom in the quarry And the Violets proclaim His coming glory.
I am pretty sure my mom wanted me to write this one after I got into a fight with my sister. Now, I would say she is one of my best friends.
In one of my poems I spelled occasional “accashinal”. So cute. Just saying, y’all should be glad I have spell check, because I still can’t spell.
I think something that is so precious is the way I signed some of them off. I would put at the bottom: “By Anna East and the Holy Spirit”
Even at twelve years old, I knew that I did nothing by my own will and strength, but only by the equipping power of the Holy Spirit in me. I want to keep that same heart posture in the coming years.
Not my strength, but His
Not my will, but His
Not my plan, but His
Not my timing, but His
Not my love, but His through me
Not my patience, but His through me
Not my forgiveness, but His through me
Not my joy, but His through me
Not my kindness, but His through me
Not my gentleness, but His through me
Not my peace, but His covering me
Not my grace, but His cleansing grace in my life.
The next couple of years hold new adventures for me. I am learning more and more each day to trust God with everything—although I still have a lot of room for improvement.
I am so excited to share with all of you were He takes me, what He teaches me, and how He uses me!
