Bursting from the stable,
Birds fleeing to the gable.
Hooves pounding on the ground,
Fingers knotted in his mane.
My heart hammers in my chest,
The race is won without contest,
This ferocious beast is unbound,
Attempting to land me on the plain.
I cannot right myself alone,
This steed is hazard prone.
He clears the fence and pond around,
My every effort made in vain.
A figure comes across the field,
And calms my mount to His yield.
He grasps the fallen, broken, reins,
And gives my charger, Fear, his name.
