As far as my feet would carry,
Away from all I knew.
Away from that dread place,
Where everything went askew.
I ran while my lungs ached.
My feet a feeling of broke.
I collapsed with weariness,
Before I then awoke.
Bound by the chains,
With shackles on my feet.
My heart in deep despair,
Forgotten in dark defeat.
A nightmare my reality,
A slave to my mistake.
Trapped within my failure,
My life is now at stake.
Led away to exile,
Broken back and shattered will.
Captive in transgression,
I cannot climb this desperate Hill.
I fell into a pit.
Sin holds me tied.
Flogged by his words,Â
My Enemy--again--lied.
The King's eyes look into me,
And sees me for who I am.
The Risen Son of God,
The world's Redeeming Lamb.
He paid the price,
To free my soul.
Out of despair,
Lifted from the hole.
Free from my cage,
Liberation at hand.
He brought me back home,
To dwell in His land.
He clothes me in finery,
And covers me with love.
I am His special treasure,
Forever, with Him, above.
